The Sanity Room
It started out as this thing that made me happy. Years later, macrame and sewing healing wraps, were the thing I did that was something easier to describe to folks because what I do for a living is technical and not very interesting.
I named the things. Many times. The Peaceful Wraps kept their name. When I designed a version for horses, they were called Peaceful Warmers for Horses. And then, I taught myself macrame.
What do you call that? Peaceful Macrame? I learned how to sew tote bags and called them Boho Bags because for starters, they look like my high school sewing class projects. I hate sewing in high school. Why was teaching myself now?
YouTube.
I taught myself my career in tech and taught myself how to macrame and sew. This is how I know that unless you cut out the material accurately from the start, the end product will end up looking wobbly.
I am not good at the cutting part. So my Boho bags are “charming” explorations into the happy world of colorful materials and mixing together non-sensical pieces that laugh at perfectionists and hope you like a bit of whimsy and chaos.
My sewing room is actually two areas of the house. There is the storage section of the basement, which is always a mess. There is the rec room in the basement where I took over a section and put 3 sewing machines and a cutting table.
This is my Sanity Room. The only times it is organized and cleaned up is when my grand daughter comes because she is an explorer.
